Nebula Defence Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Nebula Defence is a game by Slashforward (Wouter Neuteboom, Leiderdorp, the Netherlands). We care about privacy and collect as little as possible. You can play without an account; signing in is optional.

What does the game store?

Your stars, research, Data, settings and saved runs are stored on your own device. If you sign in, your progress is also saved online so you can keep it and continue on another phone.

Optional account (Sign in with Apple or Google)

If you choose to sign in, Apple or Google confirms who you are and gives us an account code and your email address (with Apple you can hide it behind a relay address). We store that together with your progress (stars, research and Data) on our own server in the Netherlands. We use your email address only to recognise your account, never for marketing, and we don’t receive your password. You can sign out at any time, and delete your account and saved progress under Settings → Account → Delete account; this removes them from our server right away (backups are overwritten within 14 days).

Game updates

The game can download new versions of itself from our own server (slashforward.nl). Like any website, the server briefly logs the requests it receives, including your IP address and the version you are running, to keep the service secure and working. These logs are deleted automatically within 14 days and are never used to identify you.

Anonymous gameplay statistics

To see which levels are too hard or too easy, the game sends anonymous events to TelemetryDeck (a European service built for privacy), such as “level 12 started”, “won with 2 stars” or “research started”. They contain no name, email address or location, only an encrypted, anonymous device code that can’t be traced back to you. More info: telemetrydeck.com/privacy.

Ads

Nebula Defence only shows an ad when you choose to watch one for a reward, such as a hint or finishing research right away. These ads come from Google AdMob. To show and measure them, Google may use data such as an advertising ID, the type of device and a coarse location (country). In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland we ask for your consent first; you can change your choice at any time under Settings → Ad privacy in the game. On iPhone and iPad, Apple also asks whether you want to allow tracking; if you say no, ads still work, just not tailored to you. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your device settings. More on how Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Purchases

The optional Commander Pass is bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment; we don’t receive your name or payment details, only that the pass belongs to your store account, which the game checks on your device so it can restore it.

Why is this allowed?

For an account you create, it is needed to provide the cloud save you asked for. For the update logs and the anonymous gameplay statistics, it is our legitimate interest: keeping the game working and making it more fun and fairer, without knowing who you are. For personalised ads we ask for your consent where the law requires it; if you say no, you only get non-personalised ads.

Data outside Europe

Our update and account servers and TelemetryDeck are in the European Union. Google may also process ad data in the United States; Google takes part in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and uses the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. How long Google keeps data is set out in Google’s retention policy.

Children

Nebula Defence is not specifically meant for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights and contact

Without an account we don’t store any personal data about you. With an account you can ask us what we store, or delete it yourself in the game under Settings → Account. You can change your ad choice under Settings → Ad privacy in the game, and turn off tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking (iPhone and iPad) or with your advertising ID in your Android device settings. Questions about this policy: [email protected]. If you disagree with how we handle data, you can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the data protection authority in your own country.
