Agreement and eligibility
These Terms form an agreement between you and Wouter Neuteboom, trading as Slashforward in Leiderdorp, the Netherlands ("Slashforward", "we" or "us"), for Starfall: Forge the Stars and its connected services. By creating an account or using Starfall after accepting these Terms, you agree to them. Starfall is intended for people aged 13 or older. You must also be legally able to agree to these Terms; where local law requires permission from a parent or guardian, you must have that permission before using Starfall.
Your account
Provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in method and connected email account secure. You are responsible for activity through your account unless it results from a security failure outside your control. Do not sell, transfer, trade or share an account, create accounts to evade a restriction, or impersonate another person. Tell support promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
Persistent multiplayer gameplay
Starfall runs as a persistent multiplayer strategy game. Production, research, missions and fleet movements may continue while you are away. Other commanders and official Starfall-controlled bots may act in the same universe. Scans, raids, combat and strategic choices can change rankings or cause the loss of fleets, resources, progress or opportunities as part of normal gameplay.
Game license and intellectual property
While these Terms apply, Slashforward grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, revocable and non-transferable right to use Starfall for non-commercial entertainment. Starfall, including its software, art, text, game systems, names and logos, is owned by or licensed to Slashforward and is licensed rather than sold to you. Except where mandatory law permits it, do not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer or commercially exploit Starfall or its assets.
Virtual progress and items
Colonies, resources, ships, research, titles, rankings and other virtual items are gameplay records. They have no real-world monetary value, do not create a property interest, cannot be cashed out and may not be sold or traded outside Starfall. They may change or be lost through gameplay, balancing, security or bug fixes, enforcement, service changes or account deletion. Starfall currently does not sell virtual items or subscriptions; mandatory consumer rights will apply if paid features are introduced.
Content you provide
You keep any rights you hold in commander names, chat messages and material submitted with a safety report. You give Slashforward a worldwide, non-exclusive and royalty-free license, limited to what is reasonably needed to host, transmit, display to the intended participants, filter, secure, investigate and moderate that content and operate Starfall. This license ends when the content or account is deleted, except for material that must remain temporarily in backups or safety, dispute and legal records as explained in the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use and fair play
Follow the Community Guidelines. Do not exploit or conceal bugs, use unauthorized scripts or bots, manipulate rankings through collusion or multiple accounts, interfere with the service, bypass safety measures, harass or deceive other people, or distribute illegal or harmful content. Official Starfall-controlled bots are part of the game and are not player automation.
Safety and moderation
Starfall may use automated filters, rate limits, blocking and private report tools to protect players and the service. Authorized reviewers may examine reported messages and the limited conversation context supplied with a report. We may take proportionate action, including a warning, access restriction, temporary suspension or account termination, based on severity, context and repeated behavior. You can ask support to review a moderation decision.
Changes and availability
We may change the game, balance, features, technical requirements or data formats for valid reasons such as security, legal compliance, compatibility, abuse prevention, bug fixes, game balance or service improvement. Planned or emergency maintenance may interrupt access. We aim to preserve progress but cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free service. We will provide reasonable notice when a change materially affects your rights or use of Starfall, unless urgent action is needed.
Suspension and termination
We may restrict, suspend or terminate access for a serious or repeated breach, a credible safety or security risk, fraud, unlawful use or conduct that materially harms Starfall or other players. Where reasonably possible, we will explain the reason and give advance notice or a chance to correct the issue; urgent action may be immediate. You may end these Terms by deleting your account. Contact support if you believe an enforcement decision is wrong.
Privacy and account deletion
The Privacy Policy explains how Starfall processes personal data. You can request permanent account deletion in the app from Profile → Account & safety, or use the public Account & data deletion page if you cannot access the app. Certain safety, legal and backup records may remain temporarily as described in those pages.
App stores and third-party services
For an app obtained through Apple’s App Store, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies unless a custom license is shown in App Store Connect. These Terms govern the Starfall account and online service and supplement that license where compatible. If Starfall is distributed through Google Play or another store, that store’s applicable terms also apply. Authentication, notification and infrastructure providers have their own terms and privacy notices. Mandatory platform terms and applicable law take priority if they conflict with these Terms.
Consumer rights and liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes statutory guarantees, remedies or other consumer rights that cannot legally be limited. Subject to those rights, Starfall is provided as available and we are responsible for direct, reasonably foreseeable loss caused by our breach. We do not exclude liability where the law forbids this, including for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury. Starfall is supplied for personal use, so we are not responsible for business losses.
Governing law and disputes
Dutch law governs these Terms. If you live elsewhere as a consumer, you keep any mandatory protections and court rights provided by the law of your country of residence. Please contact support first so we can try to resolve a concern directly; this does not restrict your right to use a regulator, consumer body or competent court.
Updates to these terms
The effective date above identifies this version. For a material change, we will provide reasonable notice and ask you to accept the updated Terms where law or the nature of the change requires it. Changes will not retroactively remove mandatory rights. If you do not agree to an updated version, you can stop using Starfall and delete your account.
